John Amiri has been named the vice president of sales and marketing of Malibu Creations, a new brand set to launch John Amiriits debut collection of home décor in January.

Amiri brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the home décor industry and a list of accomplishments, including founding and managing the cornerstone brand Zodax. He also served as a board member for Gift for Life and has held top marketing posts at a number of gift industry companies.

In his new position, Amiri will be overseeing the sales and marketing effort of the brand, day-to-day operations, as well as guiding the creative vision of Malibu Creations.

“I’m thrilled that Malibu Creations has entrusted me with developing the company’s brand identity,” said Amiri in a statement. “Malibu Creations is poised to fill a gap in the home décor market with stylish home décor accessories and accent furniture at smart prices that allow everyday consumers to decorate their homes without breaking the bank. Malibu Creations will not only be on trend with its debut 2013 collection, but will be a leader in future home décor fashions.”

Montclair recognizes annual holiday home decorating contest winners

MONTCLAIR – Homeowners behind some of the city’s best Christmas-decorated houses have been recognized.

The Montclair City Council and member of the Community Action Committee recognized the four winners of the 15th annual holiday home decorating contest.

Pat Wooton, the chairwoman of the committee, said this year there were 32 entrants, adding that judging was very difficult. Two entrants had actually won in previous years and in an effort to make sure everyone has an opportunity to be selected, the past winners are ineligible for three years.

Members of the Community Action Committee drove around and judged every entry.

“We applaud everyone’s excellent job of enhancing Montclair’s neighborhood during the holiday season,” Wooton said.

Members of the community are encouraged to see these homes. The winners are:

Whimsical Christmas: 9877 Greenwood Ave., on top of the roof sits a holiday helicopter ready to deliver Santa.

The festive driveway is lined with lighted candy canes and in front of the house is a lighted nativity scene. The front yard is filled with holiday decor such as lighted cactus and reindeer.
