Home tour offers decor ideas

Decorating the home for the Christmas holiday can be tough. Fresh ideas may be hard to come by, and resources can be limited.

However, ideas sure to impress holiday guests can be found in abundance at the Mount Pulaski Tour of Homes, which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at four homes and one church at this year’s event.

Phyllis Beccue, of Salt Creek Attic and coordinator of the event says visitors will see a variety of styles at each place they visit.

“We’ve got both old and new homes featured and all are decorated in the style that reflects the tastes of the owners,” said Beccue.

Featured locations include the United Methodist Church, 303 East Jefferson Street, Bob and Robin Benson home at 303 North Vine Street, Todd and Angie Cyrulik home at 127 North Scott St., Mark and Mary McGee home at 305 West South Street and Dan and Kathy Jones home at 2038 600th St., all located in the Mount Pulaski area.

The first stop is the United Methodist Church, which is under the direction of Pastor Rachel Stockle. The United Methodist Society of Mount Pulaski, formed in 1836, was the first religious organization to form in Mount Pulaski. In 1851, a new church was built on the corner of Jefferson and Vine streets, where the church has stood for the past 161 years.
